 CHASING OWLS
Chasing Owls are Ben Sunderland, Callum Bateman, Naomi Black and James Moir. The band met in mid-2010 and almost immediately launched into a characteristically busy live schedule which has since taken in much of the UK and Ireland. Along the way the indie-folk four-piece have supported Ben Howard, Athlete and played shows for Communion. Chasing Owls' live performance sees the intimacy and sensitivity of their recorded material meet with the exciting live energy and enthusiasm that together serves to match their reputation as a necessarily witnessed live act.

'World class indie-folk from Edinburgh, the vocals are intoxicating.' - BBC Radio 1

'Edinburgh-based Chasing Owls make pretty perfect folk-pop.' - For Folks Sake

'Beautiful songwriting, accomplished musicianship, and powerful boy/girl vocal harmonies, Chasing Owls know their craft and are a very promising band.' - The Scotsman

'Beautiful heartfelt vocal with soul enriching harmonies. A very well written and produced track that signals the coming of an incredibly strong act.' - Absolute Radio

'Just wholesome, beautiful and uplifting' - Glasgow Podcart

BEAR BONES
Ben Harrison grew up on Islay, a remote Hebridian island lying off the West Coast of Scotland. Having moved to Glasgow, Ben started working on a new project inspired by his island home and the life he led there.

Bear Bones is the realisation of that project: An 8 piece ensemble of accordion, brass, bells, banjo, strings, drums and voices with a live show that radiates the band's honest charms and perfectly compliments Ben's intimate storytelling.

The band have released two singles to date, "Oil & Lacquer " through Instinctive Racoon Records  and “Diving Bell” on Eli & Oz Records. They have supported the likes of Dan Mangan, Admiral Fallow [on their “Boots Met My Face” album launch] and Pete Lawrie and also headlined the prestigious Communion night at The Notting Hill Arts Club in January 2011. They continue to sell out Glasgow’s Captain’s Rest with their own headline shows. Bear Bones are currently completing demos for their next single due for release in March 2012.

'Resplendent with soaring melodies. A winning, charming act' - Herald Scotland

'Charming with great songs in Oil And Lacquer and Diving Bell to name but two' - The Skinny

 MATT NORRIS & THE MOON
Matt Norris & The Moon are an Edinburgh-based contemporary folk band, taking influence both from more traditional Scottish folk and the current folk music scenes of Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. Their music is sometimes lively and upbeat, sometimes haunting, but it is characterised by tight harmonies, energetic guitar rhythms, trumpet and fiddle melodies, driving double bass lines as well as mandolin, piano and accordion.

The band formed in 2009 when Matt Norris met Tom MacColl at university in Edinburgh. Other members were added through connections from previous bands and from a local open mic. Since then they have supported the likes of Ben Howard, Washington Irving, Three Blind Wolves, Woodenbox, Villagers, Rachel Sermanni, Kitty the Lion & Dry the River, have recently been 'artist of the week' on Amazing Radio and appeared on Jim Gellatly's new music podcast. They have appeared at the Edge Festival in 2010 and 2011, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a number of Folk Festivals.

The band consists of Matt Norris (guitar), Tom MacColl (bass), Dave Law (trumpet and mandolin), Helen Cookson (fiddle and flute) and Dale Birrel (keys and accordion).

Musicbox hits London

Musicbox launches in London on October 19th!!!

Introducing some of the finest acoustic acts we've heard around these parts for a little while...

LAURA HOCKING
BELLA SPINKS
LAURA BOYLE

Tickets £3 here
Doors 8pm
We can't wait for this one!

LAURA HOCKING
Laura Hocking plays folk-tinted freak pop, where cut-glass vocals meet intricate string arrangements and dark storytelling. Laura sings about love, stalking, female wrestling champions, forcible tattooing, theft, hypochondria and the notion that the best revenge is an unflattering portrait.

BELLA SPINKS
Bella Spinks is an 19 year old singer/songwriter from Brighton. She played her first gig at the Concorde 2 at only 12 years of age. Fusing her characteristic piano style and inventive vocals she has drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and Regina Spektor. She has a passion for creating both interesting sounds and words. Her live performances have been described as being intriguing and compelling. To date she has supported Ellie Goulding, Foy Vance, Pete Lawrie, Three Blind Wolves, The Staves, Andrew Davie, Ian King and Melodica, Melody and Me and played Communion London and Communion Brighton.

LAURA BOYLE
Only months after tentatively uploading a handful of bedroom recorded tracks to soundcloud, seventeen-year-old Laura Boyle has already cultivated a rabin fan base online. Evoking the delicate vocals of Vashti Bunyan and harking back to the songwriting of Jackson C. Frank, her songs marry beautiful melodies with thoughtful, wise beyond her years lyrics.
